Final Project

For our final project, we changed the organism we were taking inspiration from. Originally, when we were trying to mimic predator- prey relationships, we were looking at garden eels that retract when they sense a shadow or predator. However, our magnets spike in response to a person. A tetraodontidae, more commonly known as the puffer fish, fit the response of the ferrofluid much better, so that became our bioinspiration.

Unfortunately, one of our circuits shorted the morning before our project was due. In retrospect, we should have started wiring early, to test everything out and fix any potential problems. Everything was set up to work. We had tested the box with water to make sure there wouldn't be any leaks, Melany had checked multiple times to make sure the code was working, and had tested the strength of every single electromagnet. So at that point, everything was out of our hands. For the final critique, we placed neodymium magnets onto the electromagnets, to demonstrate how the ferrofluid would spike.
